Artist: Skillz Title: 2007 Wrap Up About the Artist: Skillz formerly know as Mad Skillz, was born Shaquan Lewis. Born in Detroit, but moved to Richmond, Virginia when he was young. Skillz started his career off by competing in a freestyle competition and finished second place. His first album tanked, but he stuck with it and appeared on other Virginia rapper’s albums, such as, Missy Elliot and Timberland.
Artist: Kanye feat. Dwele Title: Flashing Lights About the Artist: Kanye was born in 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia. He first appeared on the scene in 2004 with his debut album The College Dropout. Kanye also runs his own record label GOOD Music. His trademark is a teddy bear. Look for that on his album covers.
Artist: DJ Khaled feat. T-Pain, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross Title: Im So Hood About the Artist: The Miami-based DJ and producer is currently signed to Koch Records. He released his first album in June of 2006 entitled Listennn. He used his connections to snare rappers Beanie Sigel, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Paul Wall, Young Jeezy, Slim Thug, Trick Daddy and Clipse for guest appearances. Many of these were back for his 2007 album release of We Takin Over. DJ Khaled is a member of Fat Joe’s Terror Squad.
Artist: Freeway feat. 50 Cent Title: Take It To The Top About the Artist: Philadelphia rap artist Freeway is currently signed to Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella imprint under Def Jam Recordings. He is notable for his long beard he keeps due to his Muslim faith. He got his name from the infamous drug trafficker “Freeway” Ricky Ross. He was previously a member of the rap group State Property.
Artist: Saigon feat. Jay-Z & Swizz Beats Title: Come On Baby About the Artist: New York rapper Saigon is currently signed to super-producer Just Blaze’s record label Fort Knocks Entertainment. The release of his highly anticipated major label debut entitled The Greatest Story Never Told will be released December 4. The rapper has recently appeared on the HBO television series Entourage. He has also recently made headlines for being involved in a fight with rap group Mobb Deep at an album release party where Saigon punched rapper Prodigy in the head. Saigon was then chased off stage and fled to his car.
